How peer matching works
Districts are matched on 9 input dimensions: enrollment size, low-income percentage, racial/ethnic diversity, English learner population, special education rate, grade configuration, per-pupil spending, student-teacher ratio, and enrollment trend.
Outcomes and geography are intentionally excluded from matching. Test scores, graduation rates, and location are what you compare between peers — not what defines them. The question IRIS answers: “Among districts facing the same challenges, who's getting different results — and what can we learn from them?”
